Garrett Wymer

Garrett Wymer is a special projects reporter for WKYT. He also anchors WKYT News at 6:30 on The CW Lexington and fills in on the anchor desk for other newscasts. He anchored WKYT's weekend evening newscasts for three years.

Garrett is part of a team that won a National Edward R. Murrow Award in 2022 for "Bridging the Great Health Divide," a year-long reporting effort that focused on addressing health disparities in Kentucky's Appalachian counties.

Garrett joined the WKYT News team in September 2014 as a multimedia journalist. Before working at WKYT, he had the same role at sister station WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg, Va.

Garrett graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2013, where he double majored in journalism and political science.

He lives in Lexington with his wife, Amy, and two dogs, Walter and Oliver.
