Chandler Wilcox
Reporter, WYMT

Storytelling has been my dream since I was a kid. It all started with sports. Every night I came home from school, and every weekend, I watched basketball or football games wanting to be the person commentating or on the sideline reporting.
I grew up on a farm in White Mills, Kentucky, where I would pretend to play a basketball game while commentating it in my head or play out my responses as if I was a guest reporter on the Paul Finebaum Show. My family and friends knew immediately I was a natural, as I always heard "You're gonna be a reporter one day, I can already tell!"
I didn't actually realize that dream would come true until I went to the University of Kentucky, where I majored in broadcast journalism and minored in political science. I worked on the sidelines of sporting events writing, reporting and anything else I could do as an intern or student employee while learning from great professors.
It wasn't until my last year at UK that I realized how much I loved reporting news along with sports.
I love the people of Appalachia, and I enjoy telling everyone's story. You can reach out to me at chandler.wilcox@wymt.com and I will get back to you!
