Christyn Allen is a Multimedia Journalist and Weekend Morning Anchor who joined WVLT News in October 2022.

Christyn is an East Tennessee native and loves working for the station she grew up watching! She graduated from Oneida High School in 2017 and went on to get her bachelor’s degree in Journalism at Middle Tennessee State University. While there, she anchored and reported for campus TV station Middle Tennessee News and interned at WATE in Knoxville and WKRN in Nashville. Seeing the devastation of 2020’s Super Tuesday tornadoes in Nashville and how journalists stepped in to tell those stories solidified her passion for storytelling. She also is an alumna of Zeta Tau Alpha.

Christyn started her reporting career in Erie, PA, in December 2020. While there she reported mostly on the COVID-19 Pandemic, breaking news, and lots of snowstorms. Eventually, she also anchored the 10 p.m. newscasts Monday-Friday.

However, Tennessee is home and Christyn jumped at the chance to tell impactful stories in her own backyard. Her favorite part of reporting is getting to know people around the region and making a difference in her neighbors’ lives. Reporting in East Tennessee is her dream job.

In her free time, you can usually find Christyn hanging out with her cat, Archie, or jamming out to Dolly Parton, who is her favorite person. She loves being an aunt to her four nieces and nephews and spends a lot of time with friends and family in Scott County.
