Funeral arrangements announced for Hazard High School basketball standout

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Chester Rose, a basketball standout at Hazard High School, died Saturday morning at his home in Richmond.

He was 75 years old.

At Hazard High School, Rose advanced to the Boys’ Sweet 16 three times: 1964, 1965 and 1966.

Following high school, Rose played two seasons at Eastern Kentucky University.

A visitation is scheduled in Hazard for Thursday, March 30 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Hal Rogers Center in Hazard. There will also be visitations in Richmond on Friday, March 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 1 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the East Side Community Church, with the funeral immediately following.
