Glasgow native auditions for American Idol, premiere this Sunday
GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - American Idol returns to ABC for its 20th season and you might see a familiar face on Sunday’s premiere.
Maddie Belle, a Glasgow native, graduated from Barren County in 2020. The 19-year-old says she has enjoyed singing her entire life, but her late grandmother is her ultimate inspiration.
“My grandmother loved country music as well as I do. She’s the one that got me into it,” said Belle. “She was my first ever person to actually hear me sing. And she always said that, you know, my daddy bought me a songbook. And so I’m gonna buy you a songbook every week. And I want you to sing your heart out and be up on the Grand Ole Opry stage one day.”
After attending Glasgow High School for two years, she switched over to Barren County where she began pursuing a future in medicine. She’s currently a nursing student at SKYCTC and works at Tristar Greenview Hospital.
Belle auditioned for American Idol in Nashville in front of judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie.
Will she make it to Hollywood? You can watch American Idol on Sunday at 7 p.m. on ABC to find out!
