Gov. Andy Beshear announces Kentucky has passed 10,000 COVID-19 deaths

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - Governor Andy Beshear held a COVID-19 briefing on Monday.

He began by announcing that Kentucky had passed 10,000 deaths from COVID-19.

In his daily COVID-19 report, the Governor announced 642 new COVID-19 cases across the Commonwealth on Monday, bringing the case total to 753,338.

168 of the new cases were children 18 and younger. 687 Kentuckians remain hospitalized. 196 people remain in the ICU, with 121 on a ventilator.

The state’s positivity rate now sits at 5.44%.

The Governor also announced 26 new COVID-19 deaths on Monday, bringing the statewide total to 10,019.

44 counties across the state are in the red zone on the state’s COVID-19 incidence rate map. Robertson County now leads the state with an incidence rate of 67.8 per 100,000 people.
