FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - Governor Andy Beshear held a weekly Team Kentucky update on Thursday.

He talked about the state’s economic development and COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

“Kentucky’s economy is on fire,” said Beshear. “More jobs in more parts of Kentucky paying more than they ever have before.”

He added that Kentucky’s economic development and job creation are helping to make sure Kentucky will never be a flyover state again.

“Even right now, we see really bright spots ahead,” said the governor.

After highlighting the economy, Governor Beshear spoke about the current state of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth.

He announced that only 93 ICU beds remain open in the state as of the update.

The governor added that two counties across the state have more than 75% of the population vaccinated. People aged 18-29 years old officially broke the 50% mark on Thursday. The state total is 59%.
