HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - If you are a fan of the summer heat, enjoy today, because a cool down is on the way for the next several days.

Today and Tonight

After a fairly active weekend with heavy rain and strong to severe storms, we are going to calm down for a few days. Look for foggy conditions to start this Monday, but after a few morning clouds, the sunshine will take over today. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s once again, so it’ll be a good pool day across the region.

Tonight, a mainly dry cold front moves through and that will bring some big changes to our extended forecast for a few days. While I said mainly dry, I can’t rule out a stray shower or two as it rolls through late tonight, so be aware of that. Lows will drop into the low 60s by Tuesday morning.

Extended Forecast

While the folks that love the heat and humidity this time of the year will not like the forecast for most of this week, I personally am in love with it. High pressure takes over for a few days and even with full-on sunshine, highs will only top out in the mid to upper 70s with dewpoints only in the 50s! Lows Tuesday through Thursday night will be in the mid-50s to low 60s. Talk about refreshing!

Of course, all good things must come to an end. The heat is back on Friday to wrap up the work week with one more day of sunshine before some rain chances return for Father’s Day weekend. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 80s.
