PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - StepStone Family and Youth Services has expanded its reach by adding a location in Floyd County.

“StepStone is a therapeutic foster care agency,” said StepStone program director Kelly Scott. “We’re very excited to be in the Prestonsburg area and we provide therapeutic services to children in care in the state.”

StepStone’s services include foster care services, training for foster parents, youth residential services, counseling, and therapy.

“To provide that care for those young people who need it the most,” said StepStone therapist Shawn Conn. “It really is more of a privilege than a service to be perfectly honest. I enjoy what I do so much.”

The mission of StepStone is to help children who need them the most. But, sometimes, the children help their therapists just the same.

“We learn more from them than they do from us,” said Scott. “One thing I’ve learned here is not to wait until life is easy to be happy. Because there are others out there that have it much harder.”
