HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Our humid and soggy pattern continues for a couple of more days, but some relief from the heat is on the horizon.

Today and Tonight

I’m running out of ways to tell you that conditions will continue to stay dreary for your Thursday. Some fog could be an issue early with chances for showers and storms continuing to float around, thanks to the upper-level low that is parked right over us. Again, while some of those storms could be on the stronger side, our main concern is heavy rain. Some areas already have a saturated ground, so it wouldn’t take a whole lot for flooding to become an issue. Keep an eye on those creeks and streams for the next couple of days.

Rain chances are possible both day and night as highs climb to around 80 and lows drop to around 70.

Extended Forecast

We wrap up the work week on Friday with one last day of scattered to widespread shower and storm chances before we finally get a little relief this weekend. Highs on Friday will be around 80 before dropping into the upper 60s overnight.

Saturday and Sunday still feature scattered chances for showers and storms, but I do believe we will at least see more sunshine and the rain chances are much lower. Highs will spike ahead of what looks to be a weak front moving in early next week, topping out in the mid to upper 80s this weekend and into Monday.

That weak front will do two things for us: It will dry us out and it will cool us down. How about highs in the mid to upper 70s with some sunshine by Tuesday? I’ll take it!
