VDH: New COVID-19 death in Lee County, Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WYMT/WJHL) - The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported one new death in the counties WYMT covers on Wednesday.

The new death was in Lee County, which also reported one less case than it had on Tuesday thanks to an ongoing audit.

Statewide, VDH reported 525,896 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth. There have been 9,457 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths across the state.

Here are the latest numbers for WYMT’s Southwest Virginia counties:

Buchanan County – 1,476 cases / 107 hospitalizations / 43 deaths

Dickenson County – 955 cases / 42 hospitalizations / 17 deaths (1 new case)

Lee County – 2,434 cases / 112 hospitalizations / 49 deaths (-1 case/ 1 new hospitalization/ 1 new death)

Norton – 290 cases / 19 hospitalizations / 7 deaths

Wise County – 3,244 cases / 168 hospitalizations / 100 deaths (4 new cases)
