KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Andrea Reed is hoping to find the man in a photo she took while visiting Clingman’s Dome Thursday, May 27. She says the stranger’s encouragement helped her 5-year-old son Gunner to finish a difficult hike.
Reed said the stranger was a man who has a southern accent and was with a young boy. Every time Gunner wanted to stop on the trail, Reed said this man mystery would push him to continue.
“This man was there every step of the way. He would stop a couple of feet ahead of us and he’d tell Gunner ‘you’re almost there’ and Gunner he’d get so happy and he’d hustle on,” said Reed.
Reed took a picture of the man and Gunner at the overlook area. When she turned around, he was gone and she didn’t get to thank him.
“The only male figures he has in life are my dad and my brother, so a man who didn’t know us, who stepped in to help, that meant so much to me,” said Reed.
Reed shared the picture on social media and it’s received thousands of shares and comments.
“I’m a very appreciative mama because had a stranger not have said those words to gunner he would not have done it and he took those words and more from someone he did not know,” said Reed.
If you think you might know the man in the photo send any clues to email@example.com.
