Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam working closely with DC Mayor, deploying VSP and National Guard
RICHMOND, Va. (WYMT) - Virginia Governor Ralph Northam responded to the growing unrest on Capitol Hill Wednesday as congress was set to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
In a Twitter post, Governor Northam said he was “working closely” with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, as well as Senator Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosci in order to respond to the unrest.
He also said that per the request of Mayor Bowser, he was sending 200 Virginia State Troopers as well as members of the Virginia National Guard to assist.

Per the Mayor's request, I am sending members of the Virginia National Guard along with 200 Virginia State Troopers.
