HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows Tennessee and West Virginia are among the top states not just in our region, but in the entire country when it comes to quickly rolling out vaccines for the coronavirus to residents per capita.

CDC officials say as of January 5th, more than 328,000 vaccinations have been distributed in Tennessee with 2,258 in 100,000 having received the first dose.

In West Virginia, more than 126,000 vaccinations have been distributed with 3,162 in 100,000 having received the first dose.

In comparison, Kentucky has around 174,000 vaccinations have been distributed with 1,374 in 100,000 having received the first dose.

Overall in the United States, more than 17 million doses of the vaccines have already been distributed with nearly five million already receiving the first dose.
