Clay County man missing for more than one month, family still hopeful for his return
CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Update 1/22/2020: Robert “Bob” Estep was last seen early Tuesday morning on Dec. 15.
“We noticed on Tuesday night that he was not home when my brother went up as he usually does to visit him,” said Estep’s daughter Bengela Bada.
Estep’s family believes he drove away on a red ATV early Tuesday morning.
“To check to see what belongings that he took possibly with him, his hunting bag was with him and it was muzzle load season,” Bada added.
Bada said her dad loves hunting and knows how to get around the woods. She said he normally hunts around the Long Fork and Britton Branch areas.
”It wasn’t new to him he had great survival skills, so he is a very smart man,” said Bada. “Mentally he was fine, he didn’t have dementia or anything like that.”
Officials searched the area with drones and a helicopter trying to find Estep.
“We had not had any trailing dogs to do any searching at all,” said Bada. “It was believed that they would not be capable of searching him.”
The family is offering a $20,000 reward to anyone who brings Estep back home.
“We just really ask for prayers from anyone that can help us hopefully find dad,” added Bada.
WYMT reached out to Clay County officials for comment but have not heard back.
