HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - 8/13/2020 Update: Kentucky Power Co. in Perry County confirmed that power is restored in Hazard.

The power outage occurred around 11 a.m. and lasted about an hour.

The outage affected about 1,000 customers in the area.

Kentucky Power officials still do no know the cause of the outage, but shared that it could have potentially have been an equipment issue within the building’s facility.

Hazard Police Department announced that there is a current blackout in Hazard.

The blackout ranges from Perry Park Road, near S-15 towards Jeff, all the way near the Walmart area.

Officers do not know the cause of the blackout.
