Army Corps of Engineers reopening beaches, picnic shelters in Southern Kentucky on June 29
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WYMT) - The Nashville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced Tuesday they would be opening additional Corps-managed recreation areas including new picnic shelters and swimming areas as part of their phased reopening of areas in the Cumberland River Basin.
These will be opening next week in areas including Lake Cumberland, Lake Barkley, and Laurel River Lake on June 29th.
The USACE wants to remind all visitors to honor social distancing guidelines, including staying six feet apart, not gathering in large groups, and to stay home if you are feeling sick.
They also encourage people to help keep the parks clean and to wear life jackets when near the water.
