UK tests 106 football players, updates return plan for other sports

The men's basketball team will return to campus to start the initial screening process on June 28.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - The UK football team completed its screening process and will continue with voluntary workouts. 106 football players were tested through the initial screening process, with six testing positive through the antibody test. According to the release from UK Athletics, those six student-athletes went through an evaluation process and were cleared to participate.

In addition, the men’s basketball team will begin the initial screening process on June 28 with activities planned to start later in the week. Two groups of volleyball student-athletes also went through the initial screening process and were cleared to return to activity starting Monday, June 22.

The women’s basketball team, along with the men’s and women’s soccer programs will follow suit in July. UK Athletics will release more information as those dates come.
