PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The Blackcats sit at 1-2 on the season after a very close game against Lawrence County and a blow out win against Breathitt County.
Now, heading into this first match up against Floyd Central, Prestonsburg is excited to start what they think could be a rivalry for years to come.
Head coach John Derossett said, "You know it's a county game of course and our kids are excited and I'm sure their kids are excited, but I think the schools...it's good for the schools. I think the student body gets excited. There are kids up in school that, you know, they want to get up there and have a little pep rally on Friday and get those things going and so you know the kids are excited."
Senior quarterback Drake Nunnery added, "It's a personal game. It's not a district game or anything, it's just personal. You know it's a county school. I mean it's a rivalry growing and that's what it's going to be I would assume for years on out and that's good though. We need a county rivalry and I think it's good for us. I think it's good for them."
