Original Story

Several people were taken to the hospital after two crashes at a major intersection in Boyd County.

Deputies with the Boyd County Sheriff's Department say it began with a crash between an ambulance and a motorcycle.

Investigators say a Carter County ambulance was driving on US-60 and turned left at the Cannonsburg Road (KY-180) intersection. The ambulance was taken a cardiac arrest patient to King's Daughters Medical Center.

The motorcyclist was driving straight when deputies say he drove through the intersection and hit the driver's side of the ambulance.

The man on the motorcycle was flown to a hospital.

A Boyd County ambulance picked up the cardiac arrest patient from the first ambulance.

After that crash, there was a second wreck at the same intersection involving three vehicles. Deputies say a couple people from that crash were taken to the hospital.

Both eastbound lanes of US-60 were closed at the intersection. WSAZ's crew at the scene says first responders were diverting traffic through the Super Quik parking lot.
