HYDEN, Ky. (WYMT) - Police are investigating three break-ins in Leslie County.
They say thieves broke through back doors and went through the ceilings of Leslie County Kentucky Farm Bureau, World Finance and L N Tobacco on Owls Nest Rd. in Hyden.
The break-ins happened around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police say burglars cut the power, turning off surveillance cameras and alarms. Cigarettes, money and other items were stolen from the buildings.
“The power was cut and the alarm systems were cut,” said Chief of Police Bill Baker.
An employee at L N Tobacco noticed two of their trash cans down the road when he arrived for work around 7:30 Thursday morning.
He told WYMT he knew there was a break-in when he saw items from the store run over in the street.
Managers at World Finance and L N Tobacco both said they’ve been broken into before.
All managers said they are working hard to get the businesses up and running for customers.
"We're going to try to open tomorrow, we have someone coming in to do the repair already. So we're going to go ahead and get everything fixed so that it doesn't make it hard on my customers,” said Agency Manager of Leslie County Kentucky Farm Bureau Frances Anderson.
The Leslie County Kentucky Farm Bureau is offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
