HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Partly cloudy skies and scattered showers continue throughout the afternoon as high temperatures are approaching the lower 80s across the mountains.
Scattered showers will remain possible through the early evening hours tonight. An approaching cold front will march towards the viewing area bringing widespread rain chances late tonight and through Friday! Low temperatures tonight will remain mild in the lower 60s.
Rain will continue through Friday as the cold front begins to turn stationary. This will keep scattered rain chances through the afternoon hours before a warm front slides northward across the viewing area. If you have any plans Friday, keep the rain gear handy! High temperatures on Friday will reach the lower 70s as rain continues into the evening hours.
A brief break from the rain looks likely by late Friday night before another system takes aim at the mountains. A developing low pressure system will gain strength as it moves across Kentucky Saturday and Sunday. In fact, rain chances look better on Saturday.
Widespread rain looks likely Saturday as highs struggle to get out of the lower 60s. In fact, an additional 1-2” look likely by Sunday afternoon. Some locations could get well over 2+” of rain! We will have to watch these trends closely.
