UPDATE: I-75 southbound lanes reopen in Rockcastle County

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT/WYMT) - Southbound lanes of Interstate 75 were blocked earlier Tuesday when a three-vehicle crash occurred between a tractor trailer, van and pickup truck.

State police say the van was traveling south on I-75 when the driver, identified as Derick Knuckles, 27, of Corbin, hit the construction barrier wall and hit a pickup truck.

The tractor trailer’s company is Cordell Transportation and was traveling from Ohio to Alabama according to officers on the scene.

Troopers say a passenger in the van, identified as 22-year-old Kenny Collier of Somerset, was taken to Mount Vernon Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash and everyone was wearing seatbelts.

Many drivers said they understood the traffic mess, as it was a serious accident that resulted in a significant cleanup process.

The road reopened shortly after 8:00 p.m.
