HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers have kept temperatures cooler than expected as highs have stuck in the upper 40s and lower 50s!
As we head into the evening hours, temperatures will actually increase! All models continue to like the southerly winds and cloud cover keeping temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s tonight. A few scattered chances will remain possible this evening and into Tuesday morning.
A quick hitting disturbance will keep rain chances around Tuesday. The better chances look to be to the south as a shortwave moves across the region. Cloud cover and scattered rain chances will stick around until the evening hours. High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 50s - lower 60s if we can stay dry.
Clouds will begin to decrease Tuesday night and into Wednesday. By Wednesday, mostly sunny skies will return to the region. Cooler winds will return behind the weak system as northwesterly winds return. This will allow temperatures to reach the upper 40s Wednesday.
Partly cloudy conditions will return to the region Thursday as high pressure continues to hang on to those areas north. A weak hitting disturbance could bring a stray shower to the southern tier of the viewing area Thursday. Otherwise, highs will reach the upper 50s to lower 60s.
As we look towards the weekend, an increase in both temperatures and rain chances look likely! Models continue to suggest the upper 60s to lower 70s across the viewing area! Unfortunately, rain chances look to return Saturday night and into Sunday. We will keep a close eye out for this weekend.
