HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The next few days will be cooler and soggy, so keep an eye on your creeks and streams.
Today & Tonight
Low pressure moving into the region will ramp up our rain chances for the rest of the work week. As the folks in some counties saw on Tuesday, these cells can lay down large amounts of rain in a hurry, so flooding and flash flooding is a big concern for some.
Look for mainly cloudy skies today with off and on again rain chances, especially this afternoon in the heat of the day. Highs will top out around 80 before dropping into the mid-60s tonight. Rain chances will continue into the evening hours.
Thursday and Friday
The chances for showers and thunderstorms look to stay consistent for the next couple of days. While we could see a few stronger storms, most should stay below severe limits. We will watch them closely, however. Heavy rain will definitely be the main threat as a stationary front looks to stall out over the region. Highs both days look to be in the upper 70s and close to 80 with lows in the mid-60s.
Chances for showers and storms will continue into the weekend, but look to become somewhat more scattered on Saturday and spotty on Sunday. Outside of our rain chances, Saturday will likely be mostly cloudy with highs around 80. Sunday features a mix of sun and clouds with more isolated chances of showers and storms. HIghs will be in the mid-80s that afternoon.
Another front could affect us early next week. We'll keep you posted on that as we get closer.
