Police investigating deadly Floyd County shooting

AUXIER, Ky. (WYMT) Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Floyd County.

It happened around 7 Tuesday morning in the Auxier community.

Neighbors said they heard two gunshots come from a trailer. When they looked outside, they saw a man's body lying in the yard.

Troopers said Brandon Endicott entered his ex-girlfriend, Krystal Shepherd's, home while she was inside.

They said Shepherd shot her ex-boyfriend and he made it to the front yard where he died.

"You never hear of nothing like that around here, you know what I'm saying. It's definitely a quiet little town," said Jackie Sammons, who has lived in Auxier since he was a teenager.

Auxier is a quiet town home to about 700 people.

Merlin Osborne has lived in Auxier his whole life. He said typically nothing out of the ordinary happens.

"Like I said, you know, it happens all over the world I just didn't expect it here in our little town," said Osborne.

Osborne believes police help keep Auxier safe, but now wonders if they should use extra caution.

"A little more patrol of a night wouldn't hurt nothing," said Osborne.

Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson said Endicott's body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
