PIKE CO., Ky. (WYMT) - Wednesday morning the Pike County Fiscal Court met in a special meeting to discuss personnel.
The court passed a motion to accept the resignation of County Treasurer Johnda Billitier.
Billiter has been with the Pike County Fiscal Court for more than 30 years.
Officials said Billiter’s resignation stems from health-related issues.
The Fiscal Court approved a motion for Frankie Stacy to fill the position of county treasurer effective immediately.
"We've got a lot of financial statement to reconcile and submit to the Department of Local Government," said Stacy.
Stacy has been with the county for 17 years serving in the position of Finance Commissioner.
Officials approved the motion for Pam Vanover to fill the position of Finance Commissioner.
Officials said with a new county treasurer in place they are working to reconcile finances from last fiscal year in order for the budget for next fiscal year to be approved.
"And the only thing that we have to do is to have the reconciliation of the 2017 budget," said Pike County Deputy Judge-Executive, Herbie Deskins. "Johnda never got around to reconciling all the checks, now that doesn't sound like a big job, but there are thousands of checks that have to be reconciled."
Officials said they have until August 10th to reconcile finances from the 2017 fiscal year.
Deskins hopes getting last year's finances reconciled and their budget for the next fiscal year is approved will improve the county's bond rating.
