LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police need the public's help to find a Laurel County woman wanted for arrest.
Police are searching for Caitlin W. Peters, 24, of London. Peters has warrants for first-degree criminal abuse and a probation violation.
Trooper Lloyd Cochran told WYMT Peters abused her infant in August of last year, sending the child to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
"He endured quite a bit, he had a brain bleed from one of the traumas," began the child's grandmother Chris Rains. "UK gave us the impression that his abuse was more than once."
Troopers were notified of the incident from staff at UK. They said once charges were filed, Peters disappeared.
"We don't have any idea where she's at at this time," Cochran said.
Rains said the child has made an incredible recovery, but she and other family members are trying to understand why it happened in the first place.
"What can a 10-month-old do to deserve any of that? Nothing, they're dependent upon the adults that take care of them to protect them and keep them safe."
Peters is white, 5'6" and weighs about 125 pounds.
