LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - The Kmart stores in London and Corbin are closing.
A representative for Sears Holdings says the company has made “the difficult, but necessary decision to close the Kmart stores at 1710 W. Highway 192 in London and at 14662 N US Highway 25 E in Corbin.”
The stores will begin their liquidation sales on January 6 and will close to the public in mid-April.
The number of people employed by those Kmart stores is not publicly available.
Employees that are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at Sears or Kmart stores. Most of the employees are part time/hourly.
These are just two of 30 Sears and Kmart stores closing across the country. You can find a complete list of the stores included in this round of store closures here.
