KSP Post 10 hosts golf scramble to benefit Trooper Island

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The annual Trooper Island Golf Scramble teed off in Pineville on Friday.

Trooper Island is a free summer camp in Clinton county for kids ages 10 to 12. The camp operates entirely on donations. The scramble raised more than $8,000.

Kentucky State Police Post 10 hosted the event at the Wasioto Winds golf course in Pineville.

KSP trooper Shane Jacobs says the impact you can make on children at the camp makes the preparation worthwhile.

"To be able to see that you're making a change and making a positive impact in these kids lives and just showing these kids that we're here for them. That's probably my most favorite thing about trooper island," said Trooper Shane Jacobs.

Folks had a chance to win a car with a 'hole in one' at the golf scramble.

Each year, Trooper Island hosts 700 children. The camp provides food, outdoor recreation, and games to build positive relationships with law enforcement officers.
