BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- WSAZ reports an inmate at the Boyd County Detention Center is missing after court records show he was accidentally released from the jail on July 2.
James C. Muth, 37, was facing assault charges from an incident in March 2017. He was arraigned on those charges on June 29 with a $50,000 bond, but was released three days later.
Court officials say Muth's release may be because of a clerical error after the Department of Corrections sent a letter to the jail saying Muth had served time on unrelated state charges.
It is unclear if any police agencies have been told about the missing inmate. Boyd County Sheriff Bobby Jack Woods says his office has not been notified by the jail.
According to a courthouse source, the court was not even told that Muth was gone until this Monday.
WSAZ has reached out to the Boyd County Detention Center for comment, but has not heard back yet.
