(WYMT) - High pressure continue to provide sunshine and warm temperatures for the end of the work week.

A few clouds will remain in the region this evening and into the overnight hours. Low temperatures will drop down into the mid 60s with mostly clear skies. Patchy dense fog will be possible late tonight and into Friday morning.
Temperatures will increase throughout the day on Friday with highs in the upper 80s to even 90 degrees! Heat index values will rise due to increasing dew points throughout the day. One model throws out the scenario of an isolated shower or two in Virginia but I do think we remain dry throughout the afternoon hours on Friday. The big story will be the warmth with heat index values in the upper 90s to 100 degrees.
For the first half of the weekend, we look to remain dry with a stray shower or two possible on Saturday. Highs will be in the low 90's with heat index values near 100 at times! You'll need to keep the water bottles handy at all times this weekend and take it easy if you are outside.
Our rain chances will increase throughout the day on Sunday as scattered showers return at 30%. Highs on Sunday will be the lower 90s with humid conditions. Once again, keep hydrated if outside.
Next week is beginning to take shape in the latest model runs. Monday and Tuesday look to feature the best rain chances as an approaching cold front works across the region. The actual front won't arrive until Tuesday night but that doesn't mean shower and storm chances won't be around.
Highs on Monday and Tuesday will range from the mid-upper 80s with a 40% chance of rain on both days. We will increase precipitation chances once the models agree on the coverage throughout both days. A stray shower chance will remain in the morning on Wednesday as the cold front passes through.
