Friends search for missing Perry County woman

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police are trying to find a Perry County woman, who friends said they have not heard from in weeks.

Danielle Bush told WYMT, her lifelong friend, Maudie Smith, went missing sometime in late February. She said it's out of character for her friend not to call for so long.

"You never think it's going to happen to you go missing," said Bush.

No one has reported seeing or hearing from Smith in at least two weeks.

Bush asked their mutual friend, Smiley Jent, if she had heard from Smith.

"She's always told us, you know, because we worry about her, 'If you don't hear from me in a week, then something is wrong,' and it's been almost three weeks," said Jent. "So yeah we're worried."

That's when Jent took the issue to social media. Her post was shared more than 150 times, but no one had any information to offer.

Smith does not have a permanent address or phone, but she was seen walking through the Maces Creek community two weeks ago.

Friends hope Smith will soon return, or at least make a call.

If you have any information on Smith's whereabouts, you can call Kentucky State Police at 606-435-6069.
