(WYMT) - A man and his former wife were charged with theft over $10,000 and Medicaid fraud Wednesday.

Attorney General Andy Beshear and the Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse indicted an Eastern Kentucky eye center owner and his former wife.

Optician Marcus S. Minix, 67, and Amy K. Slone, 34, allegedly billed Medicaid in 2015 and 2016 for eye care services that were never provided. The bills were made on behalf of Minix Eye Care, PSC, a company formerly in Paintsville and Prestonsburg.

Minix and Slone were married and working at the eye center at the time. They allegedly withdrew large amounts of money from the eye center accounts where Medicaid payments were deposited.

The two will be arraigned in Franklin County Circuit Court June 8.
