BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Juniper Health is adding a new facility to their list of center around Eastern and Central Kentucky.

Thursday the health care company held a groundbreaking in Breathitt County to unveil a new 27,000 square foot facility to be built on Lakeside Dr. in Jackson in the coming months.

The company began serving patients of the commonwealth in 2004. Chief Medical Officer Derrick Hamilton told WYMT this new facility will be a game changer for health in the region and provide between 50 and 100 jobs.

"We feel [we have] a niche, not only for traditional health care but we are also a safety net provider for this area of Eastern Kentucky. Whereas the people who may not have health insurance or access to health care can receive care through our institution," Hamilton said.

Patients will be able to receive a variety of services such as dental care, primary care, pharmacy service and optometry care.
