Connect With Me

I'm thankful for family and friends who always encouraged me to follow my dreams.

My passion for news sparked in high school during my first show reading the "morning news." It may have been lunch menus and sports games, but I knew I loved telling people what was going on in the community. I'm thankful for family and friends who always encouraged me to follow my dreams.

I grew up in Cynthiana, Kentucky and graduated from Harrison County High School in 2012. My passion for journalism led me to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I entered WKU a pre-declared major and never looked back! During my 4 years at WKU I became highly involved with the student newscast NewsChannel 12. It was with NewsChannel 12 that I dove deeper into becoming a journalist. Wether reporting, anchoring or producing I always had a hand in making the show go live. From the sinkhole at The National Corvette Museum to a wanted suspect on the loose I was out covering it.

My first taste of the "real world" was during an internship at WKYT in Lexington, KY. My experience solidified my decision to pursue my dream of being a reporter. I was fortunate enough to win 2 awards with the Kentucky Associated Press on the college level. My first was 1st place Best Public Affairs for an investigative story and the second was 2nd place Best College Newscast. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a concentration in news. Bowling Green holds a special place in my heart and I'm proud to call myself a Hilltopper!

When I'm not covering a story I love to be outside! You can find me hiking, running, playing tennis or out exploring the area. My love for movies usually leads me to the local movie theater to see the latest film.

From Central Kentucky to Western Kentucky and now here in Eastern Kentucky. I'm very excited to start my career in journalism as a Big Sandy Bureau Reporter for WYMT! If you see me out feel free to say "Hello" and if you have any story ideas you can reach me at cory.mccauley@wymt.com!
