I feel it is my duty to give people the truth about things happening in and around their communities.
Most journalists are really bad at math. I am now. But at one time I was really good at it and really bad at reading and writing. That changed for me in middle school when I was selected to participate on our video morning announcements show. I knew then that this reading and writing thing would really catch on.
Throughout high school I competed in public speaking events in Ohio. Not only did I get to know my own hometown of Dayton better, but I became more familiar with other cities around Ohio. Once college came I knew I had to change my scenery and throw myself into a new culture. Upon seeing Ohio University, I knew it was the place for me.
While at O.U., I worked as a reporter, anchor and producer for WOUB Public Media. This led me to internships with WDTN in Dayton, Ohio and Mephisto Radio Station at the University of Leipzig in Leipzig, Germany. I spent a month traveling around Germany and other parts of Europe catching a travel bug that I have not been able to shake yet!
I knew after seeing so many different places I wouldn't be able to go back to the places I've known for so long. I am now proud to call Hazard my home! I have always been inspired by how proud people are of their hometowns' and Hazard is no exception.
I feel it is my duty to give people the truth about things happening in and around their communities. Thank you for accepting me as a part of your WYMT family.
